IFYP Digital Literacy Workshop

The IFYP workshop aims to familiarize students with the use of digital tools and enhance their digital literacy. A good standard of digital literacy enables students to effectively navigate the information-rich online environment. It encourages responsible use of technology and ensures that students can use digital tools ethically and safely. Being digitally literate prepares students for the workforce, as most careers today require proficiency in various digital tools and platforms. This skill set not only enhances employability but also equips students to adapt to a rapidly evolving job market.

The workshop was divided into three parts:

  1. Digital Ecosystem at Shue Yan
  2. Time Management
  3. Study Habit Enhancement Tools

Online Tools Introduced

Digital Ecosystem at Shue Yan
Our university has adapted the use of digital platforms and tools in our classroom. In the workshop, students explored core university systems like Moodle, university email, and library e-resources, learning how to access materials, manage communications, and use campus tools efficiently.

Time Management & Focus
Unlike their study in secondary school, university students take up the role of managing their schedule and timetable. Here, they are introduced to practical apps such as Google Calendar, Todoist, Pomodoro Timer, and Forest. These apps help students organize their schedules, plan, and stay focused.

Study Habits & Learning Apps
Learning tools such as Evernote, Notion, and Google Docs benefit students in terms of note taking and group-work management. These apps facilitate an engaging and efficient learning environment. Students should be able to select the tools that fit their learning style.
