HK Identity Card (HKID Card) Application
Students are required to apply for an HKID card within 30 days of entry into Hong Kong. You must apply in person at the Registration of Persons Offices of the Immigration Department, with an advanced appointment booking, and complete the form through the Online Appointment Booking System.
 
*All Registration of Persons Offices will not accept any walk-in application
and no walk-in quota will be provided.
 
Open Your Local Bank Account
Students can open a local bank account online or in person in Hong Kong. Required documents include a passport, e-visa, overseas identity document, student ID card, residential address proof, and a statement of travel records etc.
You may refer to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority for information on 20 retail banks in Hong Kong.

Apply for an Octopus Card
The Octopus Card is a versatile contactless smart card in Hong Kong that facilitates easy payments for public transports, retail transactions, and various services. Current students can apply for a Personalized Octopus Card with 'Student Status' to enjoy concessionary fares on the MTR. Eligible students can apply directly through the MTR Online Application Platform.
Emergencies and Hospitals
If you need to call the emergency services, please call 999.
Students can consider using the services provided by public and private hospitals if medical care is needed. Service charges at public hospitals are usually lower than those at private hospitals, but the waiting time at public hospitals tends to be longer.
