1. Who can apply for an international foundation year programme?

Non-local applicants who hold non-Chinese passports and meet the admission requirements are welcome to apply.
Applicants should have attained certain grades from international public examination or following country-specific high school examination with IELTS minimum of 5.0 / a minimum score of 40 in the TOEFL iBT test / a minimum of 85 in Duolingo English Test (DET) or equivalentor equivalent English level. For country-specific high school examination, please check the below requirements or contact us.

The tuition fee of IFYP is HKD$ 80,000 (~USD$10,100) including free on-campus accommodation during students’ one-year of study (utility fees not included).

A student visa is a must for non-local students (unless you have right of abode in Hong Kong) who wish to study in Hong Kong and you will need to apply for it before you arrive. A person who enters Hong Kong as a visitor cannot become a student at a school, university or any other educational institutions.

The visa application process normally takes around six to eight weeks at the Immigration Department after all required documents are received. To avoid delays in enrolment, please submit the visa application at your earliest convenience.

Yes. Once you complete the IFYP and fulfill the HKSYU Undergraduate admissions requirement for IFYP students, you will be eligible to study our undergraduate programmes.

We provide 3 faculties (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Social Sciences) with 18 Bachelor’s Degree Programmes from a wide range of disciplines. For our undergraduate programmes, please click  Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Commerceand Faculty of Arts for more details. 

Apart from that, we will also provide advising sessions on the 2nd semester of the IFYP year. Lecturers from different programmes will provide more information to assist and guide students in choosing their elective courses for the 2nd semester. 

Yes. “Hong Kong Shue Yan University IFYP Entrance Scholarship” is available for students of IFYP, applicants must be admitted to the IFYP programme at HKSYU and the entrance scholarship amount is HKD$10,000 (~USD$1,300). Please click here to know more!

Yes, International Foundation Year Programme (IFYP) is the first university foundation programme approved by the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications for self-funded institutions in Hong Kong.

Yes, all successfully enrolled students will enjoy one year of free on-campus accommodation (utility fees not included). You are entitled to use the facilities provided from the Hall Management Unit and join hall activities during your one year living.
